Intro video - what is home?PHASE 3: EXHIBITIONLAUNCH: Monday 11th March, 2pm, LCB Depot Gallery, Rutland St, Leicester.
From March 4th we've been on site at the Gallery at LCB Depot in Leicester to set up the exhibition. A collection of paintings, pictures, stories, video and audio will be showcased to highlight what we think of when we consider "home" and what we may think about when we are asked to picture someone that is homeless. What are the similarities between us and how can we express that creatively to challenge our misconceptions. PHASE 2: CREATIVE WORKSHOPSFrom January we started going to Action Homeless centres to work alongside clients and residents to hear their stories and their ideas and offer creative workshops. These ranged from storytelling and creative writing to photography and art work.
During sessions we not only heard some fascinating stories but also managed to create some interesting work for the exhibition. The response from all involved has been very encouraging and over time we have helped unlock and discover some great talent. PHASE 1: ConsultationOver the next few weeks the HOME TRUTHS project will launch with a series of consultations at a variety of venues and with a wide range of community groups from schools to local clubs. We'll be looking to gather a range of opinions as we seek to explore some of the views held about anyone who experiences homelessness. This is first phase will take us into the New Year before Phase 2 of creative workshops commences.
We'll be providing updates on the MEDIA page of the and keeping you up to date here with consultation dates and venues. GET INVOLVEDWe'd also be very grateful for your thoughts and opinions about homelessness. To help with this there's an anonymous survey below (just click the HOME TRUTHS SURVEY button) that takes just a few minutes to fill in and would be extremely helpful for us. We'll be sharing some of the results and feedback on the SURVEY page.
